As a small-business owner, job creator, parent, and community-minded individual, Bridgette has shown the type of leadership needed in Patrick County. Years of misrepresentation have devastated our health care system and downtown businesses. The old school, wealthy businessman model we have been sending to Richmond for decades has only resulted in making us underfunded and underserved. It's time for the rest of us to have a voice. We deserve a change, and Bridgette Craighead is that change.

“Craighead led the town’s first Black Lives Matter protest last June, a week after the video went viral of Chauvin hunched over Floyd’s body… Craighead is not slowing down, not going silent. She has her eye on much more for herself and her young son, whose safety she worries about if Rocky Mount does not change… She’s announced a run for a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates.”

“One sunny day last spring, Bridgette Craighead was dancing the Electric Slide with three police officers in the grass next to the farmers’ market. It was the first Black Lives Matter protest this rural Virginia county had ever had, and Ms. Craighead, a 29-year-old hairdresser, had organized it… She believes that the country is at the beginning of something. The old order is starting to crack. Demographics are shifting. Young people are marching. Franklin County has made progress too: In December, it got its first Black school superintendent. In February, a departing member of the Town Council was replaced by an African-American man. This month, Ms. Craighead, now 30, announced a run for a seat in Virginia’s Statehouse.”

“A Rocky Mount cosmetologist and activist has announced that she intends to be the Democratic candidate who will challenge incumbent Charles Poindexter, R-Franklin County, in the 9th District House of Delegates race in November… Craighead has helped organize community efforts, including assisting residents with registering to vote and giving voters rides to polling places, and promoting a series of outdoor movie screenings at the Pigg River Community Center for Black History Month.”
