I'm running for Delegate in Virginia's 9th House District. I want to represent every hard-working American who plays by the rules. Growing up in Franklin County, I never felt like I had a voice that could be heard by those in control. After graduating from high school, I didn't know what I should, or could, do with my life. Like many others I struggled to find my way. When my son blessed my life four years ago, I started thinking about what kind of world I would leave for him. I want him to have better opportunities and experiences than I had. After the killing of George Floyd in the Spring of 2020, I knew I had to get involved and become part of the solution.
I started to find my voice while organizing a Black Lives Matter chapter here in Rocky Mount. I spoke with so many people who dreamed of change and a brighter future for their children. I met with reporters from around the world to speak about what is happening here in our area and throughout rural America. I made it my mission to unite our community and began speaking up for others who had no hope of their voices being heard. It is that same energy I want to offer all the people of Virginia’s 9th House District.
Even though we seem divided, we're united in that we want honest, hard-working people representing us in Richmond.
We all want clean water.
We all want better wages.
We all want accessible and affordable medical care.
We don’t need politicians who focus on giant corporate donors.
We don’t want all our state funding and economic development opportunities going to the Eastern half of the state.
We can't afford the "same old, same old" approach to politics that we’ve lived with for generations.
I want to be your voice. I want to stand for you when no one else will. We can end this era of being ignored by standing together, being good stewards of God’s Earth and good citizens of the Commonwealth. Let's work together to reform the 9th District and make it a thriving, healthy, safe place for our families.
I want to hear how you think we should improve our community. Submit your ideas.
Let's get to work, y'all!
